Instructions for Authors

Author qualifications: Authors who wish to submit a manuscript must be either a full member or associate member of the Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies. For manuscripts with multiple co-authors, at least one co-author must be either a full member or associate member.

Manuscript qualifications: Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published in another journal nor can they be simultaneously under consideration with another journal.

Manuscript length: For the initial review, submitted manuscripts must not exceed 180 pages in length on squared manuscript paper, excluding Korean and English abstracts, tables, and figures. For subsequent reviews, manuscripts must not exceed 190 pages in length on squared manuscript paper, excluding Korean and English abstracts, tables, and figures.

Manuscript processing fee: Authors of submitted manuscripts are required to pay a processing fee for the review process and afterward, authors of accepted manuscripts will be charged a publication fee.
- Fee for review: 10,000 won for the initial round of review; no additional fee for subsequent rounds
- Fee for publication:
-- General manuscripts: 100,000 won per 150 pages (squared manuscript paper) for authors of standard employment status; 50,000 won per 150 pages (squared manuscript paper) for authors of non-standard employment status; 2,000 won per additional page
-- Funded manuscripts: 200,000 won per 150 pages (squared manuscript paper); 2,000 won per additional page; applies to all authors regardless of employment status

Manuscript preparation:
- Manuscripts to be submitted are to be typed using Hangul Office.
- Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the Author Instructions and Manuscript Publication Manual. Submitted manuscripts that do not follow the author instructions, that do not meet the requirements of the Publication Manual, or that are otherwise considered unsuitable for publication will be returned to the author(s) without review.
- The Manuscript Publicational Manual outlines a uniform set of rules agreed upon by the Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies, Korean Association for Broadcasting & Telecommunication Studies, and Korean Association For Communication & Information Studies. This manual is founded on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) and the Korean Psychologial Association's Publication Guidelines for Academic Articles. These two manuals should be referred to and abided by for any subjects or items not covered in the Manuscript Publication Manual.

Abstracts: Abstracts will be published in both the Korean and English languages. Both abstracts are to be written and uploaded after the final decision for acceptance. Abstracts must be written in accordance with the Abstract Guidelines.

Manuscript submission: Manuscripts to be considered for publication in the Korean Journal of Journalism & Communication Studies should be submitted electronically via Manuscript Central. (http://www.comm.or.kr/AcademicActivity/Contribution).

Copyright transfer agreement: Authors are responsible for all content included in their submitted manuscripts. The copyright for a manuscript published in the journal will be transferred to the Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies. Authors of accepted manuscripts are required to complete and submit a consent form regarding this transfer of copyright.
