KSJCS history

The Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies (KSJCS) is a non-profit, academic organization for scholars, students, and professionals interested in the study, education, and application of journalism and communication. Founded in 1959 by Professor Bok-San Kwak, KSJCS is the oldest and largest national association striving to promote journalism and communication scholarship and to maintain freedom of expression in Korea.

The goals of KSJCS are:

  • (1) to provide a forum for the advancement, implementation, and evaluation of journalism and communication research;
  • (2) to facilitate exchange and debate among scholars and professionals on journalism- and communication-related issues; and
  • (3) to advance the highest standards for education in related fields.
